WELCOME TO THE OFFICIAL SITE OF ZARATE POLLACE PROJECT

“Zarate, Pollace, and their friends get it. They rise above sheer technical mastery to exhibit true compassion and beauty with every note they play.” —Joe Ross, Amazon.com 5-star review

Your guitar playing is so fun to listen to. I pray that you never lose interest in performing, because there are only a small handful of guitarists that evoke the emotion and fire in their playing that you do, Abel.... You are not in any man's shadow. You stand tall among the greats, and you always will. Viva Zarate!
-- Bill Keenom, co-author, Michael Bloomfield: If You Love These Blues

Dynamic songwriters Abel Zarate and Michelle Pollace (Po-LAH-chi) have concocted a delicious musical experience that is at once familiar and unique. Abel wrote the song “Latin Lady,” which put legendary percussionist Willie Bobo back on the music charts, and was also co-author of the hit song “Suavecito,” which can still be heard on the radio worldwide today. He lends his signature soulful, catchy guitar melodies to the infectious Latin and Brazilian grooves that define ZPP’s music. Zarate and Pollace create truly original contemporary jazz with a positive, uplifting message, and they call upon some of the Bay Area’s great talents to deliver it live.

Abel appears in the books Voices of Latin Rock (Ron Sansoe, Jim McCarthy), The Rolling Stone Encyclopedia of Rock & Roll (Holly George-Warren, Patricia Romanowski, and Jon Pareles), and Country Joe and Me (Ron Cabral). He has been awarded a BMI Pop Awards Citation of Achievement for having co-written one of the most-played pop songs of 1999 (for co-writing credits on Sugar Ray’s hit “Every Morning”).
